Lines in the Club… At the Art Vending Machine

Wunstkunst boxes are little surprises that you can draw – instead of cigarettes – from vending machines in Berlin clubs. You can find download codes for music, collectible street art motifs, and tons of glitter in the neon-colored, former cigarette packs. Upcycling at its best! The vending machine art first conquered the club Kater Holzig in 2012 and then quickly spread through the Berlin club scene. In the meantime, the lovingly handcrafted Wunstkunst vending machines can also be found nationwide in traveling models and online.

»Art [Kunst] comes from Ability not Wanting, otherwise it would be called Wunst«

Good Old Boxes

We liked this idea of bringing art to people so much we volunteered to help Wunstkunst for free. As such, we co-created the brand, created the corporate design, and even conceived the process for effectively repurposing the old cigarette packs. As an agency, we also arranged for artists to be featured in the boxes with their paintings or music. These include Thomas Lenke, Riot, HRVB, and Arts, among others. As the street art fanatics that we are, we also supported Wunstkunst in the design of the vending machines and their installation sites. For the website, we designed a unique box carousel that recreates the concept of a vending machine online.

Care For the Pack

Wunstkunst thrives on participation. From old cigarette packs to vending machines to handmade crafts, any contribution is welcome. In each box, you will find music in the form of a download code, collectible art cards from young painters, sprayers, and designers, a packet of glitter, and, of course, some Wunst! These are homemade little things like decorated lighters, tiny free spirits, acid worms, or other wacky gizmos born in the Wunstkunst craft room. Come and join Wunstkunst!
